Transcripts
Transcripts for study abroad program applications
Students can request official GW transcripts from the Registrar’s Office.
Foreign transcripts for the transfer of credit back to GW
Students will want to request that their study abroad transcript be sent directly to the Office for Study Abroad (rather than to Admissions or the Registrar’s Office) so that the Office for Study Abroad (OSA) can transfer credit to the student’s GW transcripts. Foreign transcripts, on average, take three months from the end of a study abroad program to arrive in the OSA.
If students plan to apply for graduate school, scholarships, or jobs that require transcripts, they will want to request additional transcripts from their program provider while on the program. The official transcript held in the OSA cannot be duplicated or reproduced in any way for your applications.
Study abroad credit posted on GW transcripts
Once the OSA transfers credit to a student's transcripts, the courses will be listed under the “Transfer Credit” portion near the top of the transcript, rather than under the semester or term that the student studied abroad. Under the semester a student studied abroad, the transcript will show that they were registered for 15 credits of undergraduate study abroad.
