Registration for Study Abroad Status
The Office for Study Abroad (OSA) is the administrative source for the registration of students in study abroad status and for the review and completion of transfer credit from participation in any approved study abroad program. Students are strongly urged to complete the University's authorized procedures for study abroad registration in a timely manner so as not to delay their progress toward a degree.
You will receive a packet of study abroad registration forms at the mandatory Predeparture Orientation Session. The forms must be completed and returned to the OSA before you can be registered for study abroad status. We encourage you to begin completing the forms immediately after attending a PDO as several of the forms require signatures by academic advisors and other University officials, which can take some time to obtain.
You must submit the following forms to the OSA in order to be registered for study abroad status:
- Memorandum of Agreement
- Participation Agreement and Consent and Acknowledgement of Risk and Release
- Academic Planning Sheet (CCAS & ESIA students only)
- Study Abroad Data Sheet
- International S.O.S. Emergency Record Summary print out.
- If you will be attending a study abroad program in a country for which the Department of State has issued a Travel Warning, you must also meet with the Director of Study Abroad and sign a Security Protocol Release Form.
The OSA is unable to register a student if there is any type of hold on the student’s account. You are responsible for checking your student account through GWeb and taking the necessary steps to remove any and all holds. Examples of holds that may prevent registration include: failure to return library books, student accounts balance of $500 or more, failure to pay fees to telecommunications, bad address holds, and/or advising holds. The OSA will not accept your study abroad forms for registration until all holds are removed from your account.
Your study abroad forms are due to the OSA by May 1 for study abroad beginning in the fall or on November 15 for a program beginning in the spring. If you have not been accepted to your study abroad program by the deadline, please contact the OSA to request an extension for your forms.
