Financial Aid
Most sources of financial aid, including most GW awards, merit scholarships, and loans, can be utilized during study abroad. The major exceptions to this rule include aid received through Federal Work Study** and the Tuition Exchange Program, which may not be applied during study abroad. Students who receive other types of funding, including external scholarships or awards that require any on-campus activity, are urged to contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance for information as to how participation in study abroad may affect this benefit. Also, international students who may receive aid from foreign entities should contact the International Services Office to determine how their aid status may be affected. All students are urged to check their eligibility for GW and other scholarships available for study abroad.
**GW students receiving help to finance their education through the federal Work Study program may apply for GW’s Supplemental Scholarship.
