Life in London
London offers a world-class education in a city of unlimited opportunities. Students have access to multiple resources to support their study. In addition to major institutes such as The British Library, the British Museum and the Royal Society, London is home to hundreds of specialized libraries. With over 200 museums, 120 historic buildings and 150 theaters, London has a vibrant and influential culture. Students can also enjoy a variety of cultural events, live shows, galleries, shops and nightlife.
Host Institution
Founded by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington in 1829, King's College became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London in 1836. King's College has been associated with many famous people since its founding, including John Keats, Florence Nightingale, and Desmond Tutu. Today, King's College is home to about 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including 4,000 international students from countries throughout the world. King's College is noted for its excellent research; in the most recent national survey, King's College received the highest rating for university research in 70 percent of its subject areas.
Students take classes in three Schools of King's College. The School of Humanities holds classes at the Strand campus between Trafalgar Square and St. Paul's Cathedral. The School of Health and Life Sciences is located at the Waterloo campus, next door to London's south Bank Center. Guy's campus, near the Tate Gallery of Modern Art and the Globe Theater, is the home of the School of Biomedical Sciences.
