Daniela Passolt, Resident Director

Daniela Passolt, Ph.D., is the resident director of the GW England program and is based in London. In this capacity, Dr. Passolt ensures the efficient operation of the academic exchange programs with partner institutions in London, Oxford, Brighton and Leeds. She also provides academic advice and support for students transitioning into the British educational system and ongoing support throughout their studies. After studying Political Science in Germany, Dr. Passolt received her Master’s degree in International Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Laurie Kaplan, Academic Director

Laurie Kaplan, Ph.D., is a visiting professor of English and academic director of the GW England program. Dr. Kaplan works closely with Daniela Passolt, the resident director, to coordinate the academic, cultural, and social events for GW students studying on the GW England program. Before moving to Yorkshire, England, in 2004, Professor Kaplan taught post-1700 literature and interdisciplinary courses at Goucher College (Baltimore, MD).  She has also taught at the State University of Odessa (in the former Soviet Union) and at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain); in addition, she was a Visiting Scholar at Newnham College, Cambridge. In 2006 she taught British Literature of the Two World Wars for the London summer program of the Elliott School of International Affairs.
