Internships

Students with an advanced level of Spanish are encouraged to apply for placement into an internship, coordinated by the Resident Director. An internship in Madrid provides exposure to the Spanish work environment as well as an intercultural experience that gives you a competitive edge in the increasingly global job market. Students normally work at their selected internship in the afternoon, after their courses have finished for the day. Companies or institutions that sponsor work experience opportunities typically have interns work on projects that reflect company or institutional needs.

Internship placements require an application process and an interview. You must prepare a resume in English and in Spanish before arriving in Spain. After careful evaluation of your goals and program expectations, the Resident Director sends your resume to several internship sites. The Resident Director then arranges an interview, upon invitation from an organization. At the conclusion of the internship you submit a written paper and give a presentation about your experience to be evaluated for course credit. Students are eligible to earn Pass/Fail credit towards a registered internship.
