Its capitol, Madrid, located in the central province of Castile, (named for its castles) is one of the most vibrant cities of Europe. Madrid is known for its historical monuments, museums, theaters and parks. It is the site of international gatherings and conferences as well as artistic, musical and sporting events. Madrid’s citizens are spirited, friendly and relaxed. We encourage you to discover the wide variety of entertainment and cultural possibilities such as attending Sunday morning concerts at the Audiencia Nacional de Musica, walking through the Rastro, going to concerts by local folk singers, viewing the remarkable collection of paintings at the Prado, or just enjoying the lively, late-night social scene.
Host Institution
GW MADRID is based at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in Spain and Europe. The University offers courses in Political Science, Economics, Business Law, Medicine and Liberal Arts. The UAM campus, located in Cantoblanco, north of Madrid, is equipped with three main libraries and multiple sports facilities, including basketball and tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor pools. The University regularly organizes seminars, conferences and theater and film festivals. All facilities and activities are open to GW MADRID students.
