The American University of Paris (AUP) is an independent college of liberal arts and sciences accredited in the United States and offering American bachelors and master degrees. Founded in 1962, it is the oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe. Its urban campus is composed of six buildings located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, on the Left Bank of the river Seine near the Eiffel Tower. Eighty per cent of AUP's international full-time faculty hold a doctoral degree, mainly from U.S. or French institutions.
