Housing & Student Support

Accommodations

Student enrolling in MICEFA are responsible for securing housing on their own. MICEFA reserves short term accommodations during the orientation program for in-coming students. Room and board arrangements for the remainder of the semester or academic year are the student's responsibility. This is an exciting opportunity for students to plan their own living arrangements and decide where they would like to live in Paris. By utilizing a network of contacts through MICEFA, students usually find housing within ten days of arrival. Housing choices consist mainly of small rooms or apartment shares, some "demi au pair" arrangements consisting of work in exchange for free room with a family, and a few home stays with French families.

Student Support

Three-week intensive orientation programs offered at the start of each semester in September and January provide students with practical information about living and studying in Paris as well as intensive language training. During orientation, MICEFA helps students to select and enroll in courses at their chosen universities. Students also receive assistance in obtaining the necessary resident documents and setting up bank accounts.

Students can also participate in cultural activities organized by MICEFA throughout the semester such as visits to the Opera and theater performances. MICEFA facilitates meeting French university students, especially those who plan to participate on an American exchange program. Students are also invited to join in excursions and cultural events organized by the GW Paris Resident Director. GW Paris activities usually include visits to sites in and around Paris and excursions to locations outside of Paris such as Normandy or Brussels.
